These summer cocktails are everything that you should need to beat the heat this summer. Read up on these cocktails and you'll be on the way to margaritaville.
Summer is finally here, so it's time to bust out some delicious cocktail recipes.
The hot weather always calls for cocktails and at Purelyft, we're all about keeping them healthy and refreshing. Today, we're going to show you 11 of the best refreshing summer cocktails to help you beat the heat.
A great cocktail always has a few key qualities that make it special. They need to be refreshing, there have to be healthy ingredients in them, and they have to be delicious. These 11 are our favorite, but maybe we can inspire you to create your own.
1. A Fresh Take On the Margarita
Everyone knows margaritas are the perfect summer drink and if you like tequila, they're probably a mainstay in your alcoholic rotation. The problem is, they're full of sugar and thus, not very healthy.
Try a "farmer's market" approach to your margarita and enjoy a healthier summer. Add 1-2 ounces of your tequila of choice, then put in some cilantro, cucumber, jalapeno, a bit of sugar, and lime juice. If you want a little extra kick, try out a Pure LYFT lemon-lime caffeine stick instead).
2. The Greyhound
The Greyhound is a lesser-known summer beverage, but it's one you're going to be seeing more and more this summer. Many seasoned summer drinkers call it the "day-to-night transition", which says it all.
You only need 3 ingredients, but the freshness of the ingredients determines how good your Greyhound will be. 2 ounces of vodka, fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice, and a slice of lime. Delicious.
3. Fruit With Your Bourbon
We're not completely sure if bourbon is a summer drink or not. But, when you mix in some fresh fruit, then you can justify it as such and something with some health benefits as well.
Bourbon is sweet, so bring that quality out even more with a couple of drops of vanilla extract and a good amount of fresh cherries. Top it up with some soda water and crushed ice and you've got a refreshing bourbon drink.
4. Soju Cran
Soju is a Korean liquor that, to be honest, is quite tasty on its own. Swap out the vodka in your vodka cran's with soju and you'll have something that's more delicious and contains nearly half of the calories.
5. Watermelon Daiquiri
The daiquiri is a summer classic, usually featuring such fruit flavors as strawberry or citrus. Our mixed berry caffeine stick will turn your daiquiri into the alcoholic energy drink you've always dreamed of.
All you need to do is take your sugar, rum, lime juice, and frozen watermelon and put it in a blender. Blend it up, pour it in a glass, and drink.
6. Cucumber Gin and Tonic
Can a gin and tonic be refreshing? Not everyone's into the idea of a bittersweet fizzy beverage cooling them down in the summer heat, but we beg to differ.
A Hendricks and cucumber G&T with quality tonic water is going to leave you feeling good and wanting more. Be careful, cause these go down pretty easily. The cucumber can be replaced with lemon or lime, but cucumber gives it a really refreshing flavor.
7. Vodka With Energy
Vodka with a caffeinated mixer is something that'll get you past the fatigue that you sometimes feel after a day in the sun. The problem is, most energy drinks have that horrible chemical taste because they're so chalked full of sugar and other mysterious substances.
At Pure LYFT, we believe that caffeine drinks should be clean and boost your energy without causing you harm. Our caffeine sticks come in delicious natural fruit flavors that you simply mix into your drink and enjoy.
8. Next Level Mojito
You should never mess around with a mojito recipe too much because they're about as delicious as summertime cocktails can be. Using fresh mint and lime will enhance the flavor and you won't have to use as much sugar.
Put 10 mint leaves and a small wedge of lime into a glass, then muddle them together. Add 2 more small wedges and 2 teaspoons of sugar, then muddle again. Fill the glass with ice, put your rum in, and top it up with some carbonated water.
9. Moscow Mule
You don't need to go out and buy copper mugs to enjoy a good Mule. Here's a good "skinny" Moscow Mule recipe that'll be delicious and under 100 calories.
Add the juice of 1/2 of a lime, 1 tablespoon of shredded ginger, 2-ounces of vodka, and a sprig of mint to your glass (or mug) and muddle the ingredients together. You can strain it into another glass if you don't want the ginger and sprig in your drink, otherwise, top it up with some ice and about 6 ounces of ginger ale and you're done.
10. A Healthy Take On the Jagerbomb
Jagermeister is the bane of some people's existence, but we think it's rather delicious and useful in Jagerbomb form. Unfortunately, most people use Rockstar or Red Bull with their Jagerbombs, which is neither healthy nor tasty.
Next time you go for a Jagerbomb to kick the night off, use one of our caffeine sticks and some soda water instead of those unhealthy energy drinks. It'll make a world of difference and you'll wake up the next morning thanking us.
11. Pina Colada Varieties
You can make a number of Pina Colada recipes and they'll make a delicious and refreshing summer beverage. The real beauty of these drinks is that they're basically your favorite breakfast smoothie with alcohol in them.
Toss a cup of pineapple chunks, a ripe banana, 1/2 cup of almond milk, and 1/2 teaspoon of coconut extract into a blender and mix it up. Then, add 2-4 ounces of rum (the mix serves 2), blend it again, add a maraschino cherry and serve.
Enjoying Your Summertime Cocktails
All of these summer cocktails are healthy without sacrificing any of the delicious flavors that you associate with summer beverages. Try them all out and come up with tweaks of your own to make them even better. We recommend our healthy caffeine sticks as a replacement for energy drinks or even in place of some fruit juice to get an extra kick.
